Hello Folks,
you all are so help -and kindfull, so i hope, someone can help me.

Yesterday i cleand up my A1085 and replaced the thermal paste on the three chips.
At first it started up but then the message appears, your computer hast shutdown.... etc etc
After trying reboot, the chime comes on but nothing happens anymore. Tryd removing the ram, the HDD... nothing.. most of the time, just the chime ;-)

Leaving the Poweerbook over night without Battery and Powercord it startet... the protocol shows the last lines..
(Is there something "special wrong"?) Maybee someone has an Idea whats wrong with the mashine?
It runs at this moment, doing Spotlight and so on...
May i did something wrong?

Thx all for your help.
Greetings and a nice Christmas Day !

My first reaction is that it might be overheating. Having it off for a long time in order for the sinks to cool down so it can start up again is a red flag for this.

How hot is the machine getting, how much of which paste did you use, and how exactly did you repaste the chips?

Hi, thx for your answer...

CPU - a normal drop and i read about to elapse a small amount to the heatsink itself
GPU - a normal drop about the GPU and the 4 chips.... like before
Chipset - elapse an amount of Thermal Paste

I used MX4 !
After the boot and the Failureprotokoll I run some GeekBenchs to push it up, after it startet again:
istat 3.19 says then:
CPU Bottom 57° C - max 61° C
CPU / Intrepid Bottom 44° - max 46° C
Power Supply 44° C
My SDD 41° C

They seems normal after Pushing it up? I tried playing an 720p with CorePlayer, the Temperature where nearly the same... i watched a full DVD and it also runs fine. Today, i switched my 512 MB RAM Stick to a 1 GB and it bootet again.

Iam so confused, that these beloved Powerbook doesnt start.. Strange behavior :-( ...
Intrestingly, i dont know how to say, when i switched the RAM, you can still see the AGERE Chipset... ? Seems like a little gap?!

Now it idles with iTunes / TenFourFox / Mail within 41 - 36 - 45°C ...
