Got a A1278 2008 Macbook however the keyboard is not working. After removing the rear cover I found that the keyboard connectors plastic clip that secures the ribbon in the connector is broken. The ribbon fits in fine but I guess the clip secures and allows contact with the connector itself. I had to power on the unit using the power pads. Is there a work around this without replacing the logic board keyboard connector in order for the internal keyboard to work?

-Thanks

maybe you can place some kind of thin film/tape on the tip of the ribbon so it forces it up or down whichever way the contact pins are, kind of like a wedge?

THANKS! This worked for me on a Mid 2014 15" MBP with half the latch in place. Lots of keys were not working.
You put the piece of paper UNDER the keyboard rubber, then you slide it in and both will now show some resistance. I closed the little piece of the latch left and it worked.
Thank you!
