A1278 MacBook Pro, firmware password cannot perform pram reset

As the title states I have a MacBook Pro with a firmware password that won't go away.
I cannot perform a pram reset (it just won't work)
If I go to recovery it asks for the pram I've tried changing ram modules still holds the pram.
Any ideas?

One of those things where you either need to convince Apple that the machine is yours, you remember the password or you have a paperweight.
