A1418 iMac 2017 21.5" Base Model - NVME Upgrade

Just bought a used 21.5" 2017 base iMac with the standard 1tb hard drive (not fusion or SSD).

Can someone let me know if I can replace it with a NVME? Im getting mixed reports from Google so any thoughts with someone with the machine would be greatly appreciated.

I can confirm this, as I have a 2015 model that was originally purchased with a hard drive. Just put in a good quality SATA SSD. It will make a big difference regardless.
