A1466 transcend jetdrive 850 faster than original?

So I've replaced the faulty SSD on this A1466 early 2014 model with a similar capacity Transcend jetdrive 850 250GB and I was wondering if the transcend one is actualy faster.

What's confusing me is this:
Original SSD: PCI-e 2.0 x2
Transcend SSD: PCI-e 3.0 x4

Which PCI-e version does the motherboard have? PCI-e 3.0? I would say so because otherwise Transcend wouldn't build it in this PCI-e version right? But then again, why is the original one pci-e 2.0 x2?

Pci-e 3.0 drives are backwards compatible with 2.0.

I wonder why transcend makes these in PCI-e 3.0 interface. This SSD only fits this model (afaik). Maybe they just want to slap PCI-e 3.0 on the box.

Are you a happy bunny with the jetdrive 850?

[I searched but failed to find this thread before starting one myself ]
 
Performance is great. I did this update on my friend's macbook so I cant review long use, but I did a black magic speed test right after upgrading and the performance gain was big.

Good to learn. I'm now expecting delivery this afternoon of Transcend JetDrive 855 960GB for my MBP 15" (2015) which has a 90% full 256GB Apple SSD. I've downloaded and practised back-up with SuperDuper on an external SSD, so ready to do the swap later this evening. Wish I had considered this upgrade sooner ...
[doublepost=1561461679][/doublepost]Should also add that I opted for the 855 as this enables use of the 250GB on the Apple SSD as an external back-up. Whilst it was probably cheaper to by the 850 + another 250GB external SSD I have a recycling 'warm glow' ;)
