Okay, so what are y'all's speculations for what the a14x will be like and how it will compare to the m1 in the macs? Here's mine.
Okay, so we can see that the m1 has a max core clock speed of 3.2 ghz. However, if we look at the a12 and a12x/a12z they both run at the same 2.5ghz and have the same amount of cache. So, I'm expecting the a14x will have the same max core clock as the a14 bionic, which is 3 ghz. I also would expect it to have less cache as well. This also combined with the battery constraints and thermal constraints of the ipad pro, I don't think it would be as powerful as the m1, but it would certainly come close to the m1 macbook air for sure. I think it will be close to the m1 in terms of peak burst performance, but the sustained performance might be significantly less. It would probably have the 7 core gpu and apple would probably just say "because the a14 gpu is so efficient, we can get by with 1 less gpu core than the a12z"
Would love to also hear you guy's speculation and what you think of mine.
