I want to get an A3 scanner - mainly to scan all my grandmother's and mother's photo albums. There are a lot of them and it would take far too long to scan at A4 and join the pages together.

Any advice on what models to look at? The Epson 10000XL looks excellent (I've already got an A4 4990) but is pretty expensive whereas the Microtek 9800XL is about half the price - is it only half as good?

What do these albums look like? I use a Fujitsu S510 scanner that does 18 pages per minute duplex in full color but it's sheet fed (no flat bed)

They're albums - ie books some of them are around 100 years old so I'm not about to take them to bits!!

No, I need an A3 flatbed scanner, always thought sheet feeding scanners limit your options a lot. I sometimes scan bits of my artwork which can take about a dozen A4 scans then spend ages fiddling about in Photoshop joining them al together again.
