Apparently, the next iPhone will feature the new "A8" processor, SlashGear reports. It is unknown whether the A8 is Apple's codename for the CPU which implies A4 x2, meaning dual core, or the new generation of the ARM A8 CPU.

IMO it'll be dual core, no one calls Cortex-A8 "new" anymore, it's a 2010 gen CPU.

if they use this is the iphone they should most definitely use it in the the next ipad. if this is where Apple is going (towards dual core) it will be one of the new selling points. if you can still get 10 hour battery with a dual core processor i think that will be a big hit.
