Where the air is crisp
Interesting chart, the share price of all three companies seems to follow the same pattern.

Also, if you go to 'company financials', you'll see that M$ spends 10x as much on R&D than Apple. What are they doing all day, racing their scooters between soda cans ?

not surprising... those company stock prices are much more affected by the state of the computer/technology industry than anything they do on their own... (unless it results in a catastrophic business collapse...)

M$ spends 10x on R&D in terms of dollars or percent of their operating finances? M$ is a bigger company than Apple, for one...

That jump on the five year was when I bought my first shares in Apple. I picked it up at $17 and it was up by $100 almost instantly. Stock finally split after watching the ticker on CNN for months, and I did a dance in my (ex)-girlfriend's basement.

they spend 10x as much in terms of dollars. Of course they are much bigger, but I would expect them to come up with some really cool stuff by putting all this effort into it. Maybe the PC world is just 10x more complicated :D

Apple spends 28% of their gross income on research, while M$ 'only' spends 18%.

That one year chart looks pretty cool, ah, the power of statistics
:p

so, Dan, is that were your pseudo comes from ?

or MS spend 2.5% of its total worth on R & D v Apple's 8%

we will have to see what becomes of bill gates' smart watch

i think xbox must have cost a lot to develop...its a great console

to the post above, a theorem (theory that is proven):

MS Software is and insult to crud (its bad)
MS Hardware is a compliment to the hardware industry (its good)

And will always be the case

XBox is hardware (is good)
XBox ROM is software and easily cracked/modded (is bad)

MS has redone the Xbox ROM three times:
Rom 1 : cracked in three months
Rom 1a: cracked in three weeks
Rom 1b: cracked in four days

You would think they would give up wouldn't you.

Hey, you are right. I really like my M$ mouse, too. So if

M$ software = crap
M$ hardware = good

and

M$ software = making money
M$ hardware = losing money

then

crap = making money
good = losing money

that explains a lot ! :D
