i created a .dmg file on my mac and locked it.
it was working perfectly, but today i suddenly forgot my password, typed the wrong password 4-5 times. but after sometime i got my password and typed in the correct password. but still it says that "try again" and after three attempts it says that it can't be opened. is it blocked permanently? please help me, i have got important files in there... :(

No, there's not lockout mechanism if you failed to guess the password.

Hope you are able to get the file unlocked. As an aside, give OneSafe app a go. Great program for generating and storing passwords and other important data. Look in the codes forum. You can snag a free Mac code for the program if you hurry. A program like this could help prevent future incidents like this.
