I am really experiencing something that is like a joke! I have a iPhone 16 Pro Max. There are big dusts inside the rear camera lenses. I went to the authorized service. They say this is not a hardware problem. They say we cannot open a record for this. We cannot clean it. If you want, they say we can change the cameras for you optionally for a fee. They have really gone crazy. The back cover already opens, I just said clean it, this service is not even there. What is the point of the warranty, it is crazy.

Hey there, buddy! 👋 Hope you’re doing great.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having a tough time getting a repair done for the debris under the rear lens of your iPhone 16PM camera.

First things first, have you considered visiting an Apple Service Center (AASP), an Apple Store, or any other third-party Apple repair shop?

And you’re absolutely right about the process. They do have to cut open the iPhone to access the components. In fact, the 16 Pro is the first pro iPhone to be opened from the rear glass, just like the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.

Let me know how things progress and don’t hesitate to get a second opinion from a different AASP in your area. Cheers, my friend! 👋

I mean when I take a photo, the dust is not visible on the camera, that is, in the image I took. But I can physically see the dust inside the camera. Since Apple service said does not show it when take a photo, we cannot do anything. They also said they cannot clean the camera for free. Therefore, they said there is no hardware problem and sent me away. (I go to Apple authorized service. Then I called Apple Customer Service about this incident. They said whatever our service says is done, we cannot do anything else.)

iPhone 15Pro and 15Pro Max were the first Pro iPhones to open from the back...

You might want to change the color of your text, doesn't work well with dark mode.. Not sure what a Apple Service Provider is responsible for covering or repairing under warranty. I assume Apple has no corporate stores in Turkey so maybe contact customer service to see what your options are.

It is responsible. Apple Store in the Istanbul. But I am in different city. So i go to the there.

That’s absurd.

To verify that it’s not showing up on the camera, I will assess the situation a little further.

Is the dirt on the edges of the camera lenses or on the centre, when you closely look at it?

Maybe the tech at the AASP misunderstood when they had a look at it.

Do you use any camera lens protectors on your iPhone? These are made out of glass and use adhesives like screen protectors. Some also have plastic around it to keep it in place on the entire camera array.

If you live by Istanbul Turkey there are three Apple Stores there, go ahead and get a second opinion from an Apple Genius and have your iPhone checked out.

Technically, it does! It’s strange that Apple’s repair guides provided instructions for most repairs that involved cutting the iPhone open from the front display. Once you pop it open, there’s a sheet of titanium underneath the back glass that you still need to remove before touching the other components underneath it. Just like the regular iPhone 14-16 where there is an aluminum plate in the mid frame that allows repairs from the bottom up instead of the top down.

However, iPhone 14 Pro models lack the ribbon cable and separable back glass that can be cut open to reveal the components inside. These models and earlier versions, as far back as iPhone X and iPhone 8, have glued together the back glass, which requires a laser or manually heating the back of the iPhone using a hot plate or heating pad and then using a blunt object like a scalpel or Xacto knife to pick out the broken glass.
