Im sick of having over 2GB in my others section of my iphone, and I have read that the only way to get rid of it is to do a clean install of iOS. If I do a clean install, will I lose all my achievements, and time spent, on all the games I have played? I assume that if I do a clean install, then restore it from a previous backup, the others folder will once again be there. Is that correct?

Depends on what is using that space. More than likely, it is things like your messages, and the attachments (photos) and other data that come along with those. Those will be restored if you restore from a backup. I'd say give it a shot, restore as new and then restore your backup. If it comes back, no harm done, and it doesn't then great.
