Hi all :)

We've always had a Mac as our Desktop computer, and I'm about to get a MBP for Uni :)

Can't wait!

I've decided on the lowest spec - 13" 2.5Ghz, but my questions are:

1) I know apple do usually update their MBPs around this time, do you reckon the that I should buy this Mac now, or wait a month or so? (I'm not going to buy the retina version expected as I can't afford it)

2) Although I'm pretty sure I won't be able to afford it.. does anyone have an idea of the price of the lowest spec 13" MBP?

Thanks all!

They were all just updated back in June, so waiting isn't necessary unless you are interested in a 13" retina.

Base 13" MBP starts at $1199, or $1099 after student discount.

Ah, thank you :)

And my bad, I meant the Retina Lowest Spec 13" - I know the prices haven't been announced, I just wandered if anyone had an idea of how much more they are likely to be :)

Of a computer that doesn't exist yet? Not sure.

I know I know!

I'm just trying to estimate in my head as I kind of need to get the laptop soon :)

But I'm going to assume it to be about £1399 or thereabouts..

I expect it to be $400 more than the base 13" MBP because the 15" retina in $400 more than its base. So $1599 is what I'm estimating.

I'm going to go with $1499. Why?

The base rMBP is the same price as the high end cMBP. So, if it follows that, then the rMBP 13 should be the same as the high end 13?

There will be no increase in price for retina display. There was no increase for the ipad3. The current 13 inch will still be sold for a while at a lower price.

All 13 inch MBPs will just start coming with the retina display.

Soon all Mac laptops will have retina displays.

Are the prices meant to me announced on the 12th?

As far as we know, only the iPhone and possible ipod announcement/releases will be made. 13" retina release will likely be in October.

Didn't think of that, definitely sounds like a more reasonable price.

Just like there wasn't a price increase in the 15"? We're talking about computers, not iDevices.

Don't forget about the price increase due to SSD. Plus, the iPad 2 went lower in price after the 3 came out.

if it has a CPU and GPU the same or comparable to the 15" I estimate $1699USD

if its the sames CPU and GPU as the cMBP I estimate $1399USD
