Hello everyone,

This is my first post to macrumors (yay) and I am about to buy my first Mac. Ever. I am about to buy the 15 inch mbp with the 1 gig video card. My first question is, which ram will the new mbp's support?

I see on the site that it says 1333mhz ddr3, but when I look on Newegg I see that there are a few different types of speed of 1333mhz ddr3. I was going to buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145281 but I want to make sure it would work first.

Another question is, is Squaretrade worth it? I am about to invest 2k into laptop and don't want to worry about something silly going work.

My last question is, is there a good case/protection piece I should get for my Mac?

Thanks for your help.

1333Mhz GDDR3, 8gigs max (2 x 4gig sticks, matched pairs are recommended).

MBPs come with 4gigs RAM from factory.

? Not sure what you mean...the speed is the 1333Mhz.

I recommend Apple Care, but if you're worried about accidental drops and what not, Square trade should cover it - double check to be sure.

I like these:

http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.php

For a soft sleeve, they have a tough outer shell (ballistic nylon) and a full 6mm of neoprene (most neoprene sleeves only have 3mm thickness and no outer shell).

But there's plenty others out there which you may like. Search around for your preferences.

I should have been more clear about the memory... on newegg they have 3 different 1333mhz speeds:

DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)(23)
DDR3 1333 (PC3 10660)(5)
DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)(17)

Thats where my concern lies with the ram.

Thanks for your input! :)
