My situation is that I use a laptop at home with a 1280x1024 (19"?) screen at home, and I sometimes carry it to school or to meetings. I don't travel much otherwise.

A little about myself, I'll be definitely running Parallels on this machine, I'm a web developer and occasional Photoshop user. Not really too much of a creative person, mostly business stuff. I'll also be running Office for school. ~15-20 gigs of music, all the regular stuff.

I'm looking at a MBP sale, so I'm in the age-old dilemma: 15" or 17"? Both are 2.33GHz. The 15" is $150 less. 15" is 120gb. 17" is 160gb.

Which one should I go for? I usually use it at home. I would go for the 15" immediately but the 120gb HDD is what's making me hesitate. I've been using a 15" Windows 1280x800 and the reso drives me crazy sometimes. Is the 15" screen reso enough? Thanks.

The 15" is more portable, but the 17" screen makes it more appropriate for a desktop replacement.

Ultimately it depends on what you actually need. Personally, I don't regret going for the 17" (with the hi-res screen in my case). Best computer I've ever owned and ideal for both portable and desktop use.

For a 17" laptop, the mbp is incredibly thin, but for me the foot print is just way too large to carry around anywhere at all without annoyance. If you have an external monitor at home that you like using, you can just get the 15" and plug in when you need to. If you buy the 17" and end up plugging it into a 19" monitor, it's not worth the extra weight/size/form factor of the bigger laptop.

I'd get the 15". I've had two 17" laptops before, and they're just a hassle to move around. If you want to be able to take it with you when you go places, get the 15".

17 inch

Go for the 17 inch... Bigger Screen & Bigger Hard Drive for $150 is a steal!
It is a personal choice but I say go for it! ;)
