I am about to purchase PhotoAlbums+ and was wondering if it is possible to manually create new photo albums /folders via SSH or iFile.

I am aware that you can do this via iTunes and sync the photos but the photo's end up so-called 'optimized' and compressed. I have a great app called 'Photo Transfer App' that does not compress the photo's but this only works with the Camera Roll.

EDIT: Just read a few negative reviews about PhotoAlbums+ over at BigBoss with it bootlooping /getting stuck at Apple logo etc and developer not responding to emails etc - not good :(

I'm surprised to hear this - don't think I've ever read testimonials to that effect here on MR. I've been running it since it came out and love it bjut am afraid I can't answer your initial question, I just create and move pics between sub-albums via the app

Edit: Stephen Fry is a cool dude so no dear MR, i don't mind my new title =)

+1 love the app have not had any issues with it

OP i dont think you can create the folders but you can ssh to the camera roll if you dont like the itune syncing the path for camera roll is var/mobile/Media/DCIM
 
Thanks for your comments. I am really interested in PhotoAlbums+ but those reviews over at BigBoss do concern me. It is $5 but if it does what it states then its definitely worth it.

WhatAmI /iisforiphone : What firmware /iPhone do you have?

i have an iphone4 on 4.1
 
Wow they increased the price significantly. I think I paid $1.99 for it.

Can you post a link to the bad reviews? I have not had any issues with it. I only wish it created permanent folders though (if you restore all images will be put back in camera roll).
 
Never had a problem with it. Always one of the first tweaks along with bite lockinfo and sbsettings that I install after a fresh update and jailbreak.

I really want this app as I want to easily create folders and organize all of my photos, wallpapers etc without having iTunes compress them.

I'm really surprised by this. I have had iRealSMS from the beginning and have always got great support from Reznor/them.
 
There are +5 recommendations on this thread alone so I think that I am going to give it a shot.

Thanks labman. I thought that you can delete any file in any album that was created with PhotoAlbums+ ? However you cannot edit anything outside of the camera roll (iTunes synced folders) - Correct?

The only other drawback I can see is that once you create a folder you cannot rename it or password protect it at a later stage.

thats correct as long as it was originally in the camera roll weither you took the picture or saved it off safari, you can delete it doenst matter what folder your moved it too using photoalbums+
 
Thanks all for your input. Just purchased /installed and manually saved my shsh blobs just in case - Very nice app :)

It also works perfect with 'Photo Transfer App' when copying photos from PC - Camera Roll and vice versa.
