Allow me to begin by saying that although I know a fair amount about software, and am very comfortable writing simple java applications, I have absolutely no idea about anything when it comes to hardware, and I am very uncomfortable dissecting my computer.

I am about to upgrade my macbook's internal HD. it currently has the standard 60GB HD. I've been planning on buying a Western Digital SATA HD. Are all SATA hard drives compatible with a macbook? Will they all fit inside my macbook? Specifically, will this HD fit in my macbook and work? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2795126&CatId=139

MacBooks are definately the easiest to upgrade in terms of hard drives so youll be alright here.

the hard drive that you linked is a 3.5" desktop hard drive, you want a 2.5" notebook hard drive :). click the "2.5" Mobile Hard Drives" link in the top left of that page and choose any of the hard drives from there.

then use this guide to install your new hard drive from ifixit.com
