Okay, so over the years of owning my mid-2009 MBP, I've probably accumulated a bunch of garbage in random locations of the hard drive. Preference-panes added and removed, duplicate photos here and there, and just a general cleansing would do it well I believe. The machine came with Leopard installed, then I jumped to Snow Leopard when it was released being that I just purchased when SL was announced, so I got the free upgrade in the mail. Went from SL to Lion, and now here I am. Each time was an update and not a clean install.

What I would ideally like to do is manually port over the files I would like to keep. I made a Time Machine backup last night in preparation of the install. I would prefer to manually pick and pull which files I would like to transfer, so I would assume I would need a clone of the HDD copied on an external as well. Time Machine doesn't let you pick and pull, does it?

Also, does anyone know the location of iPhoto's library, along with all the music in iTunes? Can my applications just be dragged and dropped from the external HDD without needing to go through the install procedure again (PS CS4, Bridge, etc.)?

Updating via the App Store would be easiest, but I think I could benefit from a nice flush and starting fresh. I made the Time Machine backup just in case anything goes terribly wrong. Thanks!
