? about using an internal HD as an external

Well I was all set to pick up a mac pro, but my wife just got a pc notebook i've been playing with and i really like the portability.

Here is my problem. I ordered a WD Raptor 10k RPM HD. Could I use it in some type of enclosure and connect it via firewire 800 to the Macbook Pro.
How would programs on the main interact with the external exactly?

Thx for any feedback. Also maybe a link to the ext enclosure for using an internal HD would be great.

it should work fine, i dont think OSX will let you install anything to the external though, im not sure

Yea, i just found out about not being able to install windows on an external etc. Maybe i'll just replace my Dell HD with this raptor instead. Man this is gonna hurt lol.
