Is it possible to be infected by just clicking on link and opening web page?

I don't have any real time scanners and use only Malwarebytes.

1) Could I be infected just by browsing something and not agreeing to any installation?

2) I heard there is no Mac malware that would install itself when just visiting websites. Is that true?

Browsers are intricate software and drive-by infections are certainly possible. Most often the risks come from third-party web plug-ins, such as Java, Flash and Silverlight. Every now and then vulnerabilities are found in the browser’s engine or the media (images, video, PDF etc.) or rendering frameworks, which have the potential to be exploited.

Basically, if you are on a questionable website do not agree to install anything (Java/Flash/etc...) and you'll be fine.
