I wanted to share the Windows CLI approach for those Windows users wanting to j/b their A5 device.

I've added some of my own comments to the steps below. Initially I ran into some error issues. I don't know if this had to do with the heavy load on the greenpois0n.com servers, but I thought it best to restore the iPad OS. After I did this, I had no more errors and Absinthe installed without problem.

1. open CMD.exe
I ran cmd.exe as administrator

2. cd to the cinject.exe (on your Windows OS)
On the iPad, navigate to Settings

3. execute the command: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig
After you run this command, you will get a popup on the iPad asking if you would like to add a new profile. Agree to this. You are then prompted for a VPN password. Leave this blank, press "DONE".

4. execute the command: cinject.exe -j payloads
This command, when finished running will prompt you for the next command:

5. execute the command: cinject.exe -w
You will see a lot of command strings flash on the screen. When all that is done:

6. toggle the VPN switch in settings
This is under Settings -> Network

7. Wait for reboot

I tried that and got all the way to the VPN part. But nothing happens after that. I wait for quite awhile after getting the VPN connection error and wait for the reboot and it doesn't happen automatically. How long did you have to wait. Also, were you getting an error that said:

bad file descriptor
FATAL<__LINE__>: Assertion failed <1266>: got == sizeof<size> 1266

You need to type in the following, depending on where you saved the folder:

For example if you saved it on your Desktop, you would type:

cd C:\Users\{YOURUSERNAME}\Desktop\cinject_0.4.3

replace {YOURUSERNAME} with whatever your user name is

Also, when you are doing #5, wait until you see a command that mentions pod2g. Don't try to turn on VPN until it's completely over. I was impatient and didn't and it didn't work. I am trying again now as I type this.
 
I was getting a handful of errors. The one that sticks out said, "File too large" during a "backup" routine. I figured this was in some way related to it trying to back up a file and it couldn't. So, I restored. This solved all the error issues I experienced.
 
I am a happy camper! It finally worked. I waited until I was getting a repeated message then I did the VPN thing and it finally rebooted. I was so happy when it finished rebooting and I saw Cydia. I did restore as new, but I can handle losing all my game progress and having to re-install everything again now that I am jailbroken again!

and it just stays at that? noting appears on ipad or pc? .. am i doing something wrong?..

i havent set up my vpn on ipad.. i dont know how.. but with you help i will understand better?
 
You should be able to do a "restore from backup" in iTunes now, and get back everything, including game scores etc.

My guess is you are not in the correct folder. Where did you save the Absinthe file? Did you extract the folder from the file "cinject_0.4.3" wherever you extracted that file on your computer is where the commands are saved. This is the folder you want to be in when you run commands from terminal.

i extracted it to the root C:/
 
i ran this and keep getting this error:
VPN Connection
A configuration error occurred.

Followed all the steps but no reboot or greenpoison icon or whatever

Should i just reboot - i have run the CLI 3/4 times now already.

Advice?
 
Ok, try this.
Start -> Accessories -> Rclick Command Prompt -> Run As Administrator
At prompt type: cd c:\cinject_0.4.3

Connect ipad/iphone via USB to computer.
Now run the commands and see if it works for you.
 
this is what i ran in cmd

C:\Documents and Settings\User>CD
C:\Documents and Settings\User

C:\Documents and Settings\User>cd: C:\cinject_0.4.3
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

C:\Documents and Settings\User>cd C:\cinject_0.4.3

C:\cinject_0.4.3>cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig

ok im in, its requesting password for vpn account?? i dont know this.

is in reference to my comment?
I am already running command prompt as administrator.

Another thing all my pictures have gone so i am guessing the process is just not finished?
 
ok got it to work thanks to Tos' help - erased content and set up as a new phone then i ran the CLI procedure as stated on various blogs
and it worked - quick note make sure you dont put a password in if you do you must erase phone and then jb then after jb you can restore from back with no problems
also make sure your phone stays plugged in even when error in VPN happens

Guys!!! i have problem with jailbreak!
My iPad 2 wifi only doesn't reboot after VPN error...

Any ideas?

problem solved!!!! Yahoooo!!!
