Abysmal wifi on iPad 2 only

i have xfinity internet and it seems to be good majority of the time, except on my iPad2. it goes from an 81mbps on my mid-2010 iMac to 17mbps on the iPad. Both hooked into airport extreme and using speedtest.net

iPad still has 16 of the 32Gb available and is running latest iOS.

How do i go about speeding it up? if possible.
