Hi everybody!

So I've recently acquired a new iMac (yay!) but the USB ports are just so limiting in placement and count. On my journey to search for a USB hub (which I havent done in ages) I found out that all 3.0 need a power adapter.

I was wondering if anyone has come across one that doesn't, and looks a little decent.. Okay I'm picky, but at least no AC adapter..

On a side note: if there isnt any AC-less hubs, what do you think are the chances of it being developed? Or are we going to assume >USB 3 will always need ACs?

Each USB 3.0 port supports 5 V/900 mA (4.5 Watt). This is part of the USB specification. So each USB 3.0 hub needs an external power supply.
