I'm not sure what happened, but the accent shortcut "option+e" is no longer working. "option+`" still works, so does the umlaut "option+u", and the ˜ shortcut "option+n" is also working just fine...

anyone have any ideas?

It was working fine some time back, dunno what happened. My guess is some random widget, program or app over wrote the shortcut. But i have no idea what to do.

Help?

Have you tried rebooting? That's a basic first troubleshooting step that fixes a lot of issues. If so, you could go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and click "Restore Defaults". That may fix it.

Yup, had rebooted before. I did it again just now to double check.

I did just that, went into system preferences > keyboard > keyboard shortcuts, and hit restore defaults for every item on the list.

Still i cant seem to get the accent to appear... funny part is most other accents are also working. "option+i" appears to be off as well.

Curious enough, when i hit "shift+option+e" ´ the accent appears by itself, likewise with "shift+option+i" ˆ.

So its definitely something with the specific shortcuts...

gawww... this is annoying :p

fixed it!

i tried quitting Menu Bar apps i had open one by one.

Apparently the app "iSnap" was conflicting with the short cut. When i quit it, the shortcut magically works again.

It's a pretty useful app, but given a lot of my work involves writting in spanish (where those accents are a must), i guess i'll have to turn it off on occassion.

i'll see about writting the developers, maybe they'll fix it in a future update.
