Did Mojave get rid of the ability to see the accented character menus in the touch bar?

So if you hold down "A" for example, you will see à, á, ä, etc. accompanied by a number on the screen but you used to be able to see it in the touch bar and press the one you wanted.

This feature seems to have been removed.
 
@ThisBougieLife I just tried it using this forum's post editor and accented characters showed up in the Touch Bar. (FWIW, I'm already running 10.14.2)

Hmm...so I must have it disabled somehow. Are there are any kind of settings related to it?

When I hold down a or e or whatever in this editor, I only see the accent menu on the screen, but not on the touch bar.
