Access Data on MacBook Pro, Dead Screen

I've got a MacBook Pro and the screen is not powering on. From what I can tell the machine boots up fine. Not a big deal as it no longer being used as I now have a newer MacBook that I use daily.

The problem comes in that I now would like to retrieve a few files from the computer. Any suggestions for getting into a MacBook Pro when the screen won't power?

Sure. Get a Firewire cable from one of the macs to the other. Hold down T while booting the broken Mac. This will put it in Target Disk Mode which means it will be seen as an external hard drive on the other Mac.

Or if your current MacBook doesn't have firewire, do that.

A third option is to pull out the hard drive and put it in a USB enclosure.
