Access File app from phone to MacBook

Been a while since I las here.
Is it possible to gain access the File app on my iPhone 11 via connecting the phone to my MacBook Air via usb cable?
If the answer is yes how does one achieve it.

which version of MacOS and iOS? what kind of file? Using a cable is essential - Airdrop isn’t an option? Anyway, here is a guide by Apple on how to share files between a Mac and iPhone/iPad.
