I was using Access 2003 at work, and when trying to set up the database icon (Tools -> Startup) I mistyped the name and got a message saying something like "The file you entered could not be found. Please locate an .ico file to continue. If you are running Windows then you can also use a .bmp file."

"If you are running Windows"? I looked around on Google and couldn't find any reference to non-Windows versions. Is there maybe a Mac version planned?

I haven't heard anything, probably just some silly message M$ has forgot to take out, should be fixed in the daily Windows security update.;)

Would be nice though.

Nope, there won't ever be an MS Access for the Mac. However, someone released an app recently that will read an Access database on a Mac. That's a start.

Was there ever a non-Windows version of Access? DOS maybe?
No. Access was introduced to the world as part of Microsoft Office. Access 1.0 was responsible for the loss of data for a large percentage, if not a majority, of its users. Had it been sold as a standalone product, Access would now occupy the same place in our consciousness as Microsoft Bob.
