I don't feel like going into a full explanation, so I'll just ask the question... is there any other way to access my hard drive upon startup besides using Target Disk mode? It's not loading correctly and I really need a couple files off my PowerBook's drive before I do a clean install of Tiger. I already have my most important files backed up on an external drive, so it's not a huge deal if I lose these few files... thanks!

Target Disk Mode is the bet option. Otherwise look into getting an external casing and manually removing your drive before attaching it to another Mac. To be honest, if Target Disk Mode doesn't work then the external case probably won't either. Good luck. :)
