Hi. I recently got rid of an old Time Capsule and before doing that I downloaded its contents onto an external disk, which are contained in a very large (355 Gb) file having a .backbundle suffix. Is there a software that will enable me to access its contents? Thank you

If you copied the backup off a Time Capsule, it should be inside a .sparsebundle image that you can just open in Finder.

Thank you. It won't let me do it. Is it perhaps because I have backed it up onto an external drive that was set as MS DOS (FAT 32) instead of MS DOS Extended (journaled)?

It should not matter. Can you see it and mount it in Disk Utility?

From Disk Utility I can access the file from the menu Images --> Convert. If this is what I should do, I must get myself another external drive with sufficient space. Thanks for advising

You can try converting it to a read/write image and see if that works, but a double click in Finder should just open it.

Maybe try copying it to your Mac first if you have the drive space.

Clicking in Finder doesn't lead me anywhere ("cannot activate any file system"). I am now trying to convert the image onto a different external drive, but it is taking a long time.
