Good afternoon all,

I'm wondering if anyone can help.

I have a mba 2014 that i have downloaded TV shows and films I would like to access on my android phone whilst I'm travelling to/from work.

I also use a WiFi access dongle to share a data connection, so accessing the Macbook wirelessly isn't a problem. Keeping the Macbook alive when the lid is closed, is.

On android I use mx player pro, it has an option to network stream video, but seems to use http streaming.

Does anyone have any suggestions on software that can be used to achieve this? I have no necessity to use http streaming, so any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks

I have a sandisk connect. It accepts micro SD cards and generates it's own wifi network. You load your micro SD card with videos and then connect your device to the sandisk wifi network.

Works pretty well, but you have to use the sandisk app to watch the videos. Not sure if that's true on Android though.

Edit - this would eliminate the need to keep the MacBook in the setup altogether.

That's a good thought actually, I forgot my wireless dongle has an SD card slot. Only reason I don't transfer to my phone is because the El capitan upgrade broke the HTC sync software and nothing I do will allow me to put files on my phone via USB cable. Air sync is so slow as it's over wireless and I'd rather no take my SD card out every morning to copy things lol
