I am losing my vision so I am slowly becoming familiar with MacOS's and iOS's accessibility features. In looking for accessibility information on MR, I see threads about accessibility issues distributing across different numbered versions of OS's and different hardware forums. Perhaps it would be useful to create a single accessibility forum that focuses on accessibility issues and features for Apple's products. Just a thought...

I've been trying to use Apple TV to help an elderly family member get better entertainment options at an assisted living but with visual, dexterity and cognitive issues it was a failure.

Helped a patient with hearing loss use a phone for real time transcription a few years ago but at the time Google's Pixel phone was much better for that than iPhones.

Would be nice to have a forum where similar accessibility issues are discussed vs. trying to find them via search here.

@mainemini

It's a fabulous idea indeed, particularly with how much of the forum discussion skews towards folks not caring at all about users with special needs, older folks, those far less tech inclined, etc

Bringing up accessibility talk, in so many places here, results in getting shouted down and away and told to "deal with it" ("it", being many possible things)

I actually haven't seen many (or even one) posts where posters were shut down talking about website accessibility. I have seen discussions back and forth when it comes to specific features and hardware (such as oled vs led) on a specific device. And sure, when one has bought a device where the hardware and software operates a certain way, there isn't much that can be done about it as it's a limitation of the hardware and the design of the software.

Software, of course, can get improved and bettered on the same hardware.

I did message Arn requesting this, even playing the 'population is ageing, so accessibility will be a hot topic' card, but alas I got no reply. No doubt the MR staff are already busy with other things. I did check out some other sites that carry news about the Mac and I have not found dedicated forums for accessibility. I will keep searching, but rattling around the back of my head is an idea to team up with my University's accessibility and IT Teams to try to create some sort of publicly available resource about accessibility and the Apple ecosystem.

I was thinking along the lines of putting the relevant information in one place and also creating a sense of community (basically crowdsourcing knowledge about things that work and don't work so well).
