I can see on these forums and elsewhere that iconservicesagent causes problems, but none of the situations quite covers mine.

My problem is that when I access only particular folders/files on a Synology DS 214play NAS device via Finder, a process/service (iconservicesagent), starts to use more and more memory. Within a few minutes this service/process reaches several gigabytes, and continues increasing without stop.

This is does not happen if I try to access other files/folders of the NAS device, or on the internal drives to either of the Macs (or other external drives, such those plugged in via USB).

The only way to stop is to relaunch Finder, and kill iconservicesagent in Activity Monitor.

I have closed down both machines, and the NAS device, and restarted all. Run utilities such as Oynx etc. I have done this several times, but the problem continues.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Technical specs: Using a MacMini (late 2012, 16 gigabytes RAM, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 234 gigabytes SSD) and a MacBookAir (11inch, mid 2013, 8 gigabytes RAM, 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7) - OS X 10.10.4 on both.
