Accessing digital camera as a disk drive

Is there a way to access my digital camera (Canon A70) as an external disk drive? Currently my powerbook automatically opens iPhoto to import the photos when I plug in the camera.

Probably not. It seems that Canon disables this feature on their digital cameras. You could purchase a USB (or Firewire) card reader to do what you suggest.
