Is it possible to access my airport extreme base station at home from somewhere else? I have an external hard drive connected to it and would like to be able to access from work or on the go. If I can do this will it be secure and safe from other users accessing it? I've googled info on this and have come up pretty empty. I'm running a MBP 2.4 with OSX 10.6.4. I'm comfortable doing most tasks short of terminal entries so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Just enable sharing over WAN in the disk options in airport utility. You can choose what security method there as well.

If you a dynamic IP then you'll need to use dyndns.org or similar to map a hostname to your WAN IP.

You should then be able to use 'connect to server' from finder.
