iPad Accessing password protected external drive over network via Files

So I recently discovered I can access my other Macs’ files through the Files app on iPad OS. But if I try to click on a password protected volume connected to my Mac from my iPad it says Authentication required and there’s no where to input a password. Does anyone know if this is something that can be done?
