Accessing the dock

When pressing the button below the crown and I displays apps, are these the recently used apps or is this the dock?

It is the "dock," which can be set to be either the most recently used apps, or your favorite apps.
Not as useful as the dock on IOS or Mac, really. I think it more convenient to use the App view (push the crown), or assign your favorite apps to complications.
