i recently purchased the iphone 3gs and wanted to charge my iphone 3gs in the car using the same old charger i have used for my ipod classic. when i plug in my iphone 3gs i get an message saying that the accessory is not compatible with my iphone and if i want to use airplane mode. i've been using it without the airplane mode being off, but was wondering if it would damage my iphone if i do so. also, i am able to both listen and charge my iphone without a problem. i'm just worried because i don't want my newly bought iphone to go to waste. please provide me with some answers, thanks!

Have a look on eBay for iPhone compatible chargers - they're not expensive.
