My works firewall blocks all forums including macrumors, but being the IT geek I am I have found a small workaround, the problem is that the workaround isnt very stable, and on occasion when i go from one page to another I get a error.

While this is a slight inconvenience I have noticed that sometimes when I post something it gets double posted due to the error. Is there any way I can delete a double post? I can edit them to say they were accidental, but I would prefer to simple delete them.

None that I know of. You could contact a mod and have them delete it for you.

I've often thought it would be good if one could report their own posts, but unfortunately we can't.

I know that I can delete my posts, but I had no idea that this was only an option for Demis. Cool. :)

Rubb it in! LOL

Will becoming a contributer let me delete my own posts? Only thing I see is no adds and access to private forums.

How do I become a demi or something "higher" anyway??

Just follow the link MJ posted above and pay the cash! Demi-God(dess)=contributor, both are used to mean someone who has contributed to the site. Demi-god is the default title, but can be switched to contributor if preferred.

There is a mod that exists for VBulletin that will automatically merge duplicative posts (append the content of the new to the end of the old, or delete the new if it is the same as the old).

Be very careful where you step, Kernow...we do not talk about Fight Club, and you are awfully close to doing so. ;)

You are welcome to pay for membership, Lollypop, but you can use the Report Bad Post feature to ask to have any mistaken post deleted, and the moderators will be glad to take care of it for you. For free.

It's an unfortunate "feature" of standard vBulletin that you can't report your own post, but you can do either of these instead:

(1) Report a nearby post and explain in your "bad post report" that the post you are talking about is yours, not the one you clicked next to.

(2) Use this sneaky trick: Note the post number of your post (for example, by looking on the status line while the cursor is over the Quote button for that post). Click the "Report Bad Post" icon next to any post. Change the post number in the URL to your post number. You'll end up with a URL like this:
https://forums.macrumors.com/report.php?p=_______
with your post number filled in. Press return and you can report your own post!
