Accidental MAC OS erase.

I am a true DUMB A-- and was trying to install windows via bootcamp and accidentally reformatted the drive in ntfs. Now I am trying reinstall Leopard and I don't know how to reformat my HDD. The only reason I am trying to install XP is because I have classes that are windows based.
Please help.

Try booting from the restore disk then open disk utillity and reformat to mac os extended journal

I am trying to do this but can't seem to be able to. How do I go about this?
