Hi guys, Happy Holidays! I am running the latest version of iTunes and OS on a Macbook Pro, my music resides on an external drive. A while back, I moved the iTunes library files (itl, xml, genius, extras, etc.) to my Macbook's Music folder, after reading in a forum this would speed up overall playing, skipping tracks. It seemed to work ok for some time but then started seeing exclamation signs next to several tracks. Some I was able to locate by browing to the pointing folder, iTunes did offer to rest the search of the "orphaned" links but once done it would say it couldn't find them. Some of the files on the NAS drive were actually gone which I found strange. Also a lot of the artwork was gone. But I took the time to fix those broken links one by one. A couple of days ago I accidentally deleted the iTunes folder and its subfolders from my local drive on the Mac. I went to the Trash and retrieved some, I even had a backup from October. So now I have all these itl, xml files. I guess the most important one is the ITL file? I was able to open iTunes using and ITL from October but noticed the recently added tracks are from back then, I wonder what happens with everything else I added in those two months? I checked some of those tracks I remember having added and they were not present on the artist folder, to my surprise, I doubt iTunes would delete them, or does it do that? In short, do I have to manually add all those tracks from these two months again? I will patiently do it if that's the case. Do I need to worry about the dates on genius, extras, and xml files or just the ITL file? I know I will lose playcount from two months but it's fine compared to having to rebuild 30,000 songs. Anyone with experience that can provide tips, I would be grateful for some!
Thanks,
