I accidentally deleted myself from Contacts. How do I add myself back? Do I just add as a regular Contact and OS X/iCloud will recognize it as me?

Create a new card as usual and fill it with all your information. Once you are done, choose "Make This My Card" from the Card menu.

For some reason my "new" self contact is not showing up in iCloud/iPhone/iPad. I know iCloud is working because if I edit another Contact on my Mac it changes on iCloud//iPhone/iPad. Also tried entering a "dummy" Contact on my Mac and it doesn't go to iCloud either. However if I enter a "dummy" Contact on my iPad it goes to iCloud and my Mac.

How do I enable "new" Contacts to go from my Mac to iCloud?

EDIT: Tried changing Preferences: General: Default Account to iCloud but still the same.

EDIT: Figured it out (sort of). You have to hit the Red Book Mark and then under On My Mac copy the Contact to iCloud. Seems a little convoluted and why is it not automatic?
