Accidentally deleting apps from MAS

I just realised that you can delete apps from the MAS by just pressing the "X" that appears next to the "install"/"installed" button in the purchase list. However, it seems a bit risky that a $50 program can be deleted with a single click... is this actually the case? Is there any way to recover it without paying?

It doesn't delete the app, just removes it from that list.

So say I accidentally "x" FCP X and I haven't installed it yet, how do I get it back on that list?

Just search for it in the MAS and you'll be able to download and install it without paying for it again. Not sure whether doing so adds it back to that list.
