I only just noticed that my order says 14 Pro instead of 14 Pro Max. It should arrive in a few days. I am coming from a 12 Pro Max and I thought that is what I ordered. But now I'm thinking maybe just keep the 14 Pro because the screen is still pretty big, battery life is still pretty big, and it'll be easier to hold at least, and I won't need to wait over a month for a 1TB 14 Pro Max to come into stock. But I'm torn because I thought I'd be Max4Life.

EDIT: After much consideration I decided to keep the 14 Pro. It feels big enough to me and maybe even makes my old 12 Pro Max feel too big in comparison. When stretching my hand I can reach the top of the screen with my thumb which is something I haven't been able to do in two years now. I think I feel good about the choice to keep it. I'll miss my old Max, but I won't miss worrying about it falling out of my pocket all the time or feeling constantly amazed that I haven't dropped it yet when holding it feels like a balancing act.

As a bonus here's some photos comparing them both, blurry because I took it with my older iPad Pro in low light conditions and couldn't be bothered taking the magic keyboard off so my hands were moving a lot:

I switched from the 12 Pro to the 14 Pro Max and am happy with it. Above all, I am thrilled with the battery life.

You can try it and see if you get along. If not, you can always return it and get the Pro Max.

I ordered it from my carrier, Telstra in Australia, so I'm guessing the only way I can return it is if I don't open the box.

I voted to Return It since that isn't the iPhone you thought you ordered nor is it what you are already used to using.

If you are already used to the larger screen of the Pro Max, then you very well might miss the larger screen.
The screen resolution difference due to the screen size is a pretty big difference.

The 14 Pro will be a lot easier to use one handed and is lighter, but the battery life is going to be a pretty
big difference. The only way I could see you preferring that is if you like to use your iPhone one handed, or need a more compact and lighter iPhone than the Pro Max. Trade offs, either way.

I find whichever size I use I get adjusted to within like 48 hours. I’ve used all the sizes of iPhones including the mini

That being said I voted return also because you were expecting the max. I’m super happy with mine!

You are the only one who can answer your question. Everyone else would just telling you their own personal preference.

Did you order it from Apple? If so, just keep the Pro and see if you like it. If you don’t like it, you have 2 weeks to return it.

The only difference is the screen size and battery size. I will say I agree with what you said regarding the size. I have always gone Pro. I tried the Pro Max once, and found it to be just barely too big to be comfortable, so I returned it for the Pro. You’ll have to try it yourself and see how you feel.

You won’t like it if you liked the 12 Pro Max. Return it. I went from a XS Max, 11 Pro Max, 12 Pro, 13 Pro and now 14 Pro Max. I like both sizes personally. I go back and fourth between releases.

I’m having a similar issue through Telstra. I ordered the space black 14 pro max and when my order was emailed to me it said deep purple. Got on the 24/7 chat and was told it’s too late the order has dispatched, even though it had only been 5 minutes. All they’ll suggest to you is to refuse delivery and once it’s returned back to Telstra they will cancel your order and you can re order either in store or online. It’s a pain though as online times are slipping further away

You could return it to a telstra store, or ring or try their chat before it’s sent.

Apparently online orders can’t be returned to stores even if they aren't in open, doesn’t make sense to me but that’s the information I was given

i cancelled a iPad once and they still delivered it, took me 6 months to get them to take it back, should of just kept as it never ever showed on my business account lol

Yeah I’m started by to notice how hopeless Telstra are. I’ve only ever been to 2 different Telstra stores that were good and it’s mostly to do with the manager as she moved from one to the other. Definitely won’t order anything online again. It’s the second time this month there’s been a stuff up.

For me the Pro Max is just way too big and heavy so I'd say Pro all the way. I also don't do any heavy media consumption on my phone so I don't need a pocketable TV screen, but these are all very personal preferences.

If the absolute largest screen size is non-negotiable for you then returning it and getting the Pro Max is a no brainer. Other than the screen size, you're really not losing out anything significant and also gaining portability.

Choosing between a Pro now or a Pro Max later and the bother of returning the order is the real Sophie's Choice of the 21st century. The Pro would fit into a cheaper gimbal easier and easier to hold. But harder to read text or see photos on webpages, Facebook, and Instagram. Plus I already promised my old 12 Pro Max to my sister, if I need to wait another month for the 14 Pro Max then she'll be disappointed in having to wait too.

I guess I could just hold the Pro closer to my face and it'd effectively be the same size...

I would return it and get the device that you actually want. There’s nothing worse than buying something that you don’t 100% want and try to force yourself to like what you accidentally purchased.

Sounds like you made up your mind, but FWIW: I had a 13 Pro Max since launch last year, and wanted to downsize to the 14 Pro for better “on the go” pocketability. After living with it for 2 weeks, I couldn’t jive with the smaller screen, nor the much worse battery life.

I was lucky enough to be able to snag a 14 Pro Max with just checking in-store stock for a pickup reservation. Happy camper again, and quickly re-acclimated to the Max size. I would’ve had regrets the whole time with the 14 Pro if the timing of stock availability didn’t allow me to return and immediately grab a 14 Pro Max.
