I have a problem with accidentally overwrite catalog.

I use a external drive. I have on this something like that
/CatalogA/FolderA
/CatalogB/FolderA
/CatalogC/
/CatalogD/

I just want to merge this two "/CatalogA/FolderA" "/CatalogB/FolderA", but instead of merge choose overwrite and lost some data.
"CatalogC" and "CatalogD" I delete from that disk, cause not needed.
And now i have situation that for the removed catalogs I'm able to recover, but I don't see any data from the overwrite catalogs to recover.

Any ideas how to revert data from FolderA

And sadly I don't have a backup. I just want to start backup after I clean the disk. :(

Recovering overwritten data is very difficult. Data recovery software can recover deleted data but does not work for data that has been overwritten. A data recovery service can do it, but they are very expensive.

Is "Catalog" interchangeable with "Directory"?
Or is "catalog" a distinct file system device/type?
Would each "Catalog" then be a separate volume?
(I have a bit of difficulty deciding what OP means by "Catalog")

As Dierctory. I have one partition/filesystem on that disk.

First, don't use that disk until you've had a chance to use data recovery software on it.
Don't write to it, etc.

I'd suggest either "Data Rescue" or "Disk Drill".
These MIGHT be able to get some of the data back.
I'll say your chances probably are 50-50.

You WILL need another drive to be used as "scratch space" for the recovered files to be saved to.

The directory on one partition includes all your folders and files.
Just to clarify for me - do you mean that you have (or did have) 4 (or more?) folders named CatalogA, CatalogB, etc. each with folders named FolderA, FolderB, etc?
So, nothing more specific, just those generic names on all your folders?
It's likely that anything that will recover your drive will not likely recover the folders, just the files or documents that were in those folders. It may be a real mess if your files have a similar naming structure, which probably will mean that you likely will have to examine each recovered file to find out what it really is, and where it goes -- unless you are incredibly lucky.
I fully agree with Fishrrman on this -- don't try to do anything else with that disk, don't try to open any files, nothing at all, if you want to have any hope at all of retrieving the original files.

Know that i should not make any writes.
Ok this two not used. Try with that.
