yes, it is the dumb question of the day.however, it is not on youtube or gargle search...so once turned on how and where to turn the camera off without rebooting --iphone 6 s plus...it is much easier to ask the group then spend hours searching and getting outdated and non relevant info...thanks all-

The camera interface is just another app. Once you switch to the home screen or another app it becomes inactive. If you want to completely force quit it (not necessary) bring up the app switcher and swipe it away just like any other app.

just hit the big red button to stop recording. Pushing the home button takes you to the hone screen. The camera app is closed automatically. There is no need to force quit anything. If it didnt close your battery would zoom to zero pretty damn quick. Apple has you covered.

Thanks guys sorry old guy here imac and mbp but new iphone has provided some challenges for me no mouse no curser and cant trial and error as much--

There ya go again, APP SWITCHER--like I know what and where and how to utilize that --your wearin me down, app switcher ...maybe I will gargle that?---thanks, chinup it gets worse-

Switching out of the camera to the home screen or other app essentially turns the camera off. iOS will hold the camera app in memory in the background until another foreground app needs it, at that time the camera app will be terminated from it’s suspended state.

This varies between apps but force closing apps has little benefit however this can vary depending on the app, the api’s it uses and it’s background fresh settings. For example a music app can run in the background due to its api’s, or social media app can update due to its background refresh setting.

Tldr if the camera isn’t on screen it’s closed.
