Hi. About a week after I got my MBP, I downloaded 'safesleep', a program which put the computer state on the hard drive (like hibernation).

This feature replaced the regular 'sleep' mode, where the power light pulses on and off.

However, I removed the application itself, yet it still dumps everything onto the HDD and completely powers down each time I want it to go to sleep.

My problem with this is that it actually takes longer to start back up than it does to wake it from a 'normal' sleep.

Thanks

Open up a terminal and type this:

sudo pmset hibernatemode 3

and hit enter, you will be asked for your admin password, and you will not see any feedback when you type it in. Just type it and hit the enter key again. That will restore the default behavior for sleep.

Wow, you are an absolute legend. Didn't think that anybody would be able to help me with this one!!

Cheers!
