accidently deleted/moved my desktop...help

I was bored so i decided to play around with Finder. I accidently dragged Desktop into the trash(dont ask why =p). I tried placing it back but instead of the original Desktop icon...its a folder, is there a way i can change it back?

What OS version are you using? I'm in front of 10.3 right now but it might work the same in 10.4.

1. Make sure Finder is active
2. In the "Finder" menu (top bar), go to "Preferences..."
   (or use the keyboard shortcut Command-Comma)
3. Click the "Sidebar" tab.
4. Check the box in front of "Desktop".

It should work.

ok , thx but now that i have the original icon back...when i recently used Photobucket there seems to be 2 Desktops ( 1 with the original icon and another one in which the icon looks like a folder.

Did the "Desktop" folder alias appear by itself in the sidebar? Can't it simply be removed by dragging it out of the sidebar? Is that what you want to do?

oo I got the extra desktop folder out of finder so now it looks like this.

( For this picture, I moved my Home icon..its back in place where it was originally at. I just moved for the picture i took)

but when i seem to upload music, pictures etc. 2 Desktops show as to my other picture i posted a while ago.

That's very strange. What OSX version are you using?

1. Does the second "Desktop" alias appear above or below the horizontal separation line in the sidebar?
   
2. Is there an eject symbol beside one of the 2 desktop in the sidebar?
   
3. Do both Desktop aliases link to the same folder?

It appears below the separation line, There is no eject symbol

The Desktop with the original icon links with the same folder, but not the desktop that looks like a folder

i am using OS 10.4.10

Can you write the path where both folders are nested?

e.g.: MacinthoshHD -->*Users -->**userfolder* --> Desktop

I'm runnign out of ideas. ^_^Anybody else got some insights?
