According to an Apple rep...the iPhone 5 is available for preorder w/o a contract

Just got off the phone with a rep, he said "Absolutely; the iPhone will be available for preorder with or without a contract". I hope he knows what hes talking about!

Are you positive about this? I've been pre-ordering first-night on the online store since the 3G in 2008 and I have looked everywhere for an "Out-of-Contract" option, but have never seen it.

Exactly.
Not sure if it will be unlocked or still locked and full price.
Or if you will need to call AT&T with proof of paying full price to have them unlock it.
