For the past week I’ve been dealing with my ICloud account being locked and now deactivated. First symptom was all my Apple services asked for my password. Password didn’t work and I knew I was typing the right password but anyways I eventually click forgot password and do a password reset. Reset doesn’t work and then the dialogue says my account has been locked. Following prompts you then have to request an account review.
This review takes 24 hours. That was the first time I did the reactivate process. Now the iforgot link dialogue I get says “This Account has been locked. This account cannot be used.”
I’ve called Apple support pretty much every day since and get the same responses. First level support tells me they’ve no idea and I should create a new. After escalating I’ve spoken to a few senior Tech Support who look at my account - say they don’t see anything wrong - and send a ticket to internal team for review. They tell me Apple will email me and I never get any communication from email.
The last couple times I’ve called I’ve escalated beyond the lead and speak to the ‘highest’ Tech Senior. They are more frank with me saying they can’t do anything, and have no idea why the account is locked. Accounts are locked for a variety of reasons, and point to Terms and Conditions, and say due to privacy and security the Support staff have no visibility into why an account is locked.
I’m at a massive loss. 15 years iCloud/ME user. Thousands in iTunes purchases. All my files, all my photos. Class documents, legal docs, business docs. All Gone. I’m so frustrated Apple would revoke the account and offer 0 recourse to retrieve the data.
Literally told it’s impossible to get my data.
I bought a new MacBook one month ago, I have an iCloud subscription and used the storage to backup everything and foregoing physical backup. I had been traveling and have yet to download all my files. What a massive mistake.
I’m wondering if others have had this experience with Apple ID? Have you gotten your account back or your data?
I have heard myriad possibilities as to why someone might get an account lock but nothing specific to anything I’ve done. I’ve done nothing on my own to cause an issue for Apple. I have 2FA on my account and don’t believe anyone has accessed it/no prompts.
The support staff guess maybe my Apple me.com email was spoofed/or used for fraud. That’s just one of their guesses. Its frustrating not getting any answers and the whole process is like screaming in a void.
